The Rumors are TRUE… Faraday’s is on the MOVE!
We are extremely excited to announce that on Saturday, June 1, our new home will be in the Shops at the Galleria! We’ll be taking a portion of the space vacated by Barbecues Galore, on the Spec’s end of the center. With this move, we’ll be able to extend our hours to 7 pm Monday through Saturday, and open an hour earlier (11:00 am) on Sunday.
The new store will be about the same size as our current one, but our kitchen will TRIPLE in size to give us more room for Cooking Classes, Demonstrations, Kids’ Camp and Special Events.
We’ll remain open at our current location through May, while the new store is being set up.
They’re working on the construction right now, getting everything beautiful in time for our grand opening. Take a look at a few of the photos below for a preview… and if you’re driving by, take a peek in the window. Above all, be sure to come see us in starting Saturday, June 1!
We’re not hard to find- driving down 620 go straight across 71 into the Shops, at the first stop sign make a left!
Our new kitchen is 3x our current size which will allow us to expand our hands-on classes and events. It will also be high-tech with cameras catching the chef’s every move on 2 flat screen monitors.
This is our new fully functional coffee and tea demonstration area. You will be able to test drive all the latest tea/coffee/espresso machines. We’re also partnering with a local coffee roaster (to be announced soon) to sell freshly roasted coffee by the pound.
We are excited about our new shop and hope you join us as we launch Faraday’s 2.0!
Warm Snow Pea and Chicken Salad… perfect for a Spring Day!
Snow peas aren’t just for stir-fries. Thinly sliced, their crunchy texture and sweet taste combine with a creamy Asian dressing to make this salad special. Try this on a cool Spring day when you want something fresh, yet warm and satisfying!
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, trimmed
- 1 14-ounce can reduced-sodium chicken broth
- 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 3 teaspoons toasted sesame oil, divided
- 2 tablespoons tahini, or cashew butter
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound snow peas, trimmed and thinly slivered lengthwise
- 2 tablespoons chopped cashews
Preparation
- Place chicken in a medium skillet or saucepan and add broth; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer gently until cooked through and no longer pink in the middle, 10 to 12 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a cutting board to cool. Shred into bite-size pieces. (Cool and refrigerate the broth, reserving it for another use.)
- Meanwhile, whisk vinegar, soy sauce, 2 teaspoons sesame oil and tahini (or cashew butter) in a large bowl until smooth.
- Heat the remaining 1 teaspoon oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add ginger and garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in slivered peas and cook, stirring, until bright green, 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to the bowl with the dressing.
- Add the chicken to the bowl with the peas; toss to combine. Serve sprinkled with cashews.

Mom Deserves Good Knives.
Anyone who cooks deserves good knives, actually. Once you’ve used quality cutlery, anything less will just annoy you. This Starter Set from Global will give you the right high-quality tools to do just about any job, from large to small!
The Global Knife Starter Set includes an 8″ chef’s knife, 5.25″ utility knife and 3.5″ paring knife. Loved by professional chefs around the world for their thin and razor sharp blades, Global knives are an excellent choice for the serious home cook. The majority of Global knives are ground to a straight point rather than the western style of beveling the edge, which gives them a very fine, true cutting edge.
To balance their knives Global uses a hollow handle that is filled with just the right amount of sand to create the correct balance. You’ll find that they’re light, without feeling flimsy or insubstantial- this lightness reduces hand fatigue. The handle has unique dimples for a non-slip grip. Global knives have a smooth contour and seamless, all stainless construction that eliminates food and dirt traps.
By purchasing these knives together as a set for just $230, you save $30 off the open stock pricing. They are also available individually, if you’d prefer to purchase just one blade. Ask us to wrap them up for you, and Mother’s Day is taken care of… and Mom will be delighted! (These ship FREE when you purchase through the link above!)

Salad Spinners- for more than just Salad!
Are you annoyed because your salad spinner takes up too much space and you only really use it when you’re making salads? Salad spinners are actually great for several tasks… instead of cursing your salad spinner for taking up so much space, take it out of the cabinet and try some of these great ideas.
The most typical use for your salad spinner is to dry greens. Whether mixing up a salad making sautéed greens as a side dish, a salad spinner does a great job drying things like lettuce, spinach, kale etc. But what else can you do with a salad spinner?
Drain Pasta
We’ve all done it. You think your pasta is completely drained, add the sauce and end up with a watery final product. Next time you make pasta, drain it in the slotted portion of your salad spinner to remove most of the water, and then place the insert in your salad spinner and give it a whirl to remove the rest of the water.
Dry Poultry
It’s important to rinse chicken before using it in a recipe, but if you’re going to add a batter or crumb coating to the outside of it, you may have a hard time getting the mixture to stick to still-wet pieces of meat. To solve this problem, spin the rinsed pieces of poultry into your salad spinner (before applying the coating). This will quickly dry the meat so that the coating will stick.
Remove Excess Flour
If you make fried chicken or chicken fried steak, you’ll find that an excess of flour will cause your oil to cloud over and burn. To prevent this, use your salad spinner. Simply dredge your meat in flour then place it into your salad spinner and you will be able to quickly remove all of the excess flour.
So get that salad spinner out of the cabinet and into regular use- it’s for more than just lettuce!
Thanks to A. Brantley at Yahoo Contributor Network for these great ideas. Faraday’s sells several different Salad Spinners. The price ranges from $20 to $35. The salad spinner shown in the blog entry is from Oxo.The Top 25 Signs that You’re a True Texas Cook

Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd… what can you do?
Ever wondered how Earth Day started? It arose from an interest in gathering national support for environmental issues. In 1970, San Francisco activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson separately asked Americans to join in a grassroots demonstration. Millions of people participated, and today Earth Day continues to be widely celebrated.
The most common practice of celebration is to plant new trees for Earth Day, but there are things you can do in your daily life to help preserve the earth and become more ecologically minded.
Austin has a new bag ban- which, while it takes some getting used to, is great for helping to reduce the number of plastic bags in landfills. We have some awesome shopping bags from Flip & Tumble ($11.99) that fold up into a tennis-ball sized bundle for easy toting in your purse. Never be without your bags again!
Instead of a plastic water bottle from the store, or a paper cup from your favorite coffee shop, why not use a Tervis Tumbler to carry your beverages both hot and cold? Available in a variety of sizes and designs, they’re the ultimate in practicality since they have a LIFETIME WARRANTY. If one should crack, leak or cloud, they’ll replace it- forever! ($12-30)
Global Amici’s Cabo Glassware is made from recycled glass, and will add a flash of color to your summer table. Serve up your margaritas in recycled style! (Glassware $8.99, Stemware $11.99, Pitchers $24.99)
While finding out the Earth Day info, I also found a few other VERY IMPORTANT DATES that should be marked with a special menu:
April 14th- Pecan Day
April 16th- Eggs Benedict Day
April 17th- Cheese Ball Day
April 19th- Garlic Day
April 25th- Zucchini Bread Day
