Faraday’s Kitchen Store Cooking School hosts both demonstration-style and hands-on Cooking Classes throughout the year supporting the Bee Cave, Lake Travis and Austin areas of Texas. Working in a modern, professional kitchen, you’ll be inspired by our talented, creative chefs who will demonstrate techniques and give you the skills needed to prepare simple, delicious meals at home. A light meal is provided with each class. 

Classes range from 12 to 14 students per class, and each space is sold in advance on a first come, first serve basis. If classes are full, we will be happy to add you to our waiting list. Most Classes are two hours in length, unless otherwise detailed within the class description.

Saturday, May 4, 10:30- 11:30 am

$15 Nonstick Techniques Workshop with Chef Pham and Swiss Diamond! You will be automatically registered for a drawing to WIN a Swiss Diamond 8” Fry pan worth $69. Chef Uyen Pham, Culinary Professional at the CIA, will take you through the technique of getting the most out of your nonstick cookware: first she will demo a fried egg, follow by a demonstration and tasting of a soft scramble (French). Chef Pham will then seared off fish for your tasting and show you why things that are delicate work well in nonstick. Yes, SOME nonstick can be used for searing too, but not just any old nonstick! During these one-hour workshop, you will get to know Swiss Diamond, who are sponsoring this event. This high quality, diamond-reinforced nonstick cookware can produce awesome cooking results. Swiss Diamond will be doing an Apron giveaway for participating in the workshop, plus providing each attendee a postcard for 15% off any in-store Swiss Diamond Purchase. Samples of each item prepared by the chef will be provided. The cost for this demonstration workshop is $15 per person.

Wednesday, May 8th, 6-9 pm
Romantic Spring Risotto! Hands-on Class with Chef Jenna Rasmussen. Bring the bounty of a spring garden into your kitchen! In this hands-on class, Chef Jenna will lead you as you make a fresh and creamy Springtime Risotto, accompanied by Chicken and Chorizo Meatballs. Then for dessert, you'll make delicious, light-but-rich Chocolate Pots de Creme- like a pudding, but so much better! When the cooking is done, you'll enjoy dining on the fruits of your labor. The cost for this Hands-on class is $69 per person.

Starts May 11th, 11am- 2 p
Mastering Shellfish- 3 Week Hands-On Series with Chef Heidi Wittenborn! Do you love shrimp, crab, oysters? Wish you knew more so you could prepare great seafood dishes at home? In this 3-week Hands-On Cooking Class Series, Chef Heidi will teach you the ins and outs of cooking things with shells - oysters, shrimp, scallops, and crab. From oyster shooters to pan-seared scallops, to shrimp bisque, crab cakes and stuffed calamari, you'll get the chance to learn how to select seafood, shuck an oyster, pan sear the perfect scallop, and prepare great dishes in this hands-on class. Also covered will be several different sauces and toppings for shellfish. Class will take place on three consecutive Saturdays from 11 am to 2:00 pm: May 11, 18 and 25nd. The cost for this 3-week Hands-On series is $219 per person. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a beginner class. You are expected to have basic cooking skills. Must be age 15+.

Make a European Feast! Hands-on Class with Chef Jenna Rasmussen. Chef Jenna will lead you as you prepare a hearty European-inspired meal! You'll be making Pork Chops with a fruity and savory stuffing (Germany), accompanied by homemade Gnocchi (Italy); and for dessert, the always-impressive Crème Brûlée (France)- who doesn't love that crackly sugar shell atop creamy custard? The cost for this Hands-on class is $69 per person.

Mediterranean Bliss with Chef Domonique Liddell! Chef Domo will teach you to make a delicious and healthy Mediterranean-inspired menu that will knock your guest's socks off! Menu includes: Spicy Mediterranean-style Chicken Curry with Vegetable Biryani Rice; Garlic Naan and homemade Tzatziki Sauce, and Cucumber Lemonade. "I Love Luby's!" Cooking Class with Chef Heidi Witteborn! Chef Heidi grew up going to Luby's, as did many folks in Austin. In this class you'll learn to make some of Luby's most popular dishes: Baked Haddock Almondine, Mac and Cheese, Pot Fried Cabbage, and Chocolate Icebox Pie. Chef Heidi will be serving Luby's Cloverleaf Rolls to accompany this meal and she'll include the recipe. The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

The Ultimate Beef Wellington Class with Chef Heidi Wittenborn! Quite a few foodies include Beef Wellington among their cooking ambitions. It's an amazing dish, but fraught with peril- overdone beef, soggy pastry, mushy filling. Success is all about TECHNIQUE. Do each step right and you'll be the hero of your own kitchen, with all your dinner guests singing your praises! For this class, Chef Heidi will be preparing individual Beef Wellingtons topped with a Red Wine Sauce and a few crumbles of Gorgonzola. A great Sauteed Spinach side dish completes this tour-de-force meal to impress your guests. The cost for this demonstration cooking class is $69 per person.

Elevate your BBQ Side Dishes with Chef Heidi Wittenborn. Everybody focuses on the meat for BBQ, as well they should.  But great BBQ deserves great sides.  Chef Heidi will show you some twists on the traditional ones like potato salad and coleslaw as well as introducing you to some new ones.  She'll be making Roasted Potato Salad With BBQ Dressing, Kimbell Fruited Slaw, Sweet and Sour Bean Salad, and Street Corn Pudding.  Whether you're working on your best Texas brisket, trying your hand at perfect pork ribs, or experimenting with rubs and sauces for chicken, these sides will impress your family and friends at your next BBQ. KNIFE SKILLS CLASS with Andrew Curtis-Wellings of Cangshan! Join us as Andrew from locally-based Cangshan Cutlery teaches you to handle your knives like a pro! In this HANDS-ON 1-1/2 hour workshop sponsored by Cangshan, you’ll learn how to grip, chop, cut, slice, julienne, chiffonade, mince and more! You’ll also learn the best way to care for and maintain your knives. We will provide knives to use during class. The cost is just $49 per person, but the knowledge you'll gain is priceless.

Summer Picnic with Chef Heidi Wittenborn! Who doesn't love a picnic? Whether you’re hiking the trail to your favorite spot, packing a cooler for the lake, or headed to the park for a day of Frisbee golf, this picnic feast will be the perfect accompaniment. Chef Heidi will be packing her picnic basket with Southwestern Oven Fried Chicken, Puttanesca Bean and Tomato Salad, Southwestern Potato Salad, and Scotcheroos for a sweet finish that will make you a happy camper! The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

Faraday’s Class Cancellation Policy

We understand that life happens, and emergencies do occur.  However, we also hope you understand our commitment to all of our students and the preparation that goes into creating a successful class.  For this reason, we ask that if you are unable to attend a class, you must notify us at least 72 hours in advance of the scheduled class time to receive a refund or credit towards another class.  If it is less than 72 hours before a class, all cancellations are non-refundable (even if someone else gave this class to you as a gift).  If you cannot attend a scheduled class, we encourage you to send someone in your place.  In this case, please call ahead and notify us of the participant change. Reservations for groups of 5 or more require 7-day notice of cancellation for a refund.

Faraday’s Kitchen Store reserves the right to cancel classes. In that event, we will notify you and provide a full refund or credit. All classes are held in our store at 12918 Shops Parkway, Suite 540, Bee Cave, TX 78738.
