Faraday’s Kitchen Store Cooking School hosts both demonstration-style and hands-on Cooking Classes throughout the year supporting the Bee Cave, Lake Travis and Austin areas of Texas. Working in a modern, professional kitchen, you’ll be inspired by our talented, creative chefs who will demonstrate techniques and give you the skills needed to prepare simple, delicious meals at home. A light meal is provided with each class. 

Classes range from 12 to 14 students per class, and each space is sold in advance on a first come, first serve basis. If classes are full, we will be happy to add you to our waiting list. Most Classes are two hours in length, unless otherwise detailed within the class description.

Wednesday, March 20, 6-8 pm.

Crab Boil Date Night with Chef Frankie Childs! A crab boil is a delicious and unique way to enjoy seafood, and Chef Frankie brings us a different spin on the usual. Learn to prepare a traditional crab boil, then learn to make delicious Crab Linguini to enjoy with standard Crab Boil ingredients such as Andouille sausage, potatoes, and corn. You'll also learn to make the Crab Stock used to cook the pasta- use this homemade crab stock to make delicious soups, stews, sauces and gravies, or to add flavor to rice, beans, pasta or other grains. The cost for this demonstration class is $69 per person.

Saturday March 23, 11 am to 1:30 pm.
Dining in the Blue Zone with Chef Heidi Wittenborn! Blue Zones are the places in the world with the healthiest, longest-living populations. Diet plays a big role in longevity and the nine Blue Zones have some common elements in their diets that this class will explore. The diet includes more plant-based foods, less meat, regular consumption of small amounts of red wine. We all know that the typical American diet isn’t the best. Come explore the insights from the Blue Zones. Chef Heidi will be preparing Lemony Pasta with Braised White Beans, Steelhead Trout En Papillote, and Tamale Torte with Black Beans and Red Chili Sauce. Don't forget to bring a bottle of your favorite red wine to accompany these delicious dishes. The cost for this demonstration cooking class is $69 per person.

Stir Fry- a Basic Technique with Endless Possibilities! If you know the technique, you can put a stir-fry together any night of the week! In this class with Chef Heidi Wittenborn, you'll learn the basic techniques for cutting vegetables, cooking items in the proper order, and creating a great quick sauce. Once you know the technique, you can create a great meal limited only by your imagination. The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

Sunday, March 24, 1-3 pm.
Beyond Bread: A Sourdough Journey with Chef Frankie Childs! Sure, you can make amazing bread beginning with a sourdough starter, but what else can you do with it? Join Chef Frankie and learn as she makes Brownies, Crackers and Focaccia, all with sourdough. YOu'll learn how sourdough starter works, how to "feed" it, how to keep it healthy and productive, and how to share it. Chef Frankie will even be providing samples of her own very old starter so you can take it home and use it in perpetuity! A light meal will be included. The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

Creative Southern Delicacies with Chef Domonique Liddell! Chef Domo is all about feeding everyone, regardless of their diet or food restrictions. You'll enjoy making these dishes when you have a group over, as you can satisfy everyone from Gluten Free and Vegan, to the Omnivores! Menu includes: Gluten Free Fried Salmon Fillet over Sundried Tomato-Basil Pasta; Vegan Baked Carrot Souffle; Cornbread with Vegan "Honey Butter", and Orange Lassi drink. The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

The Ultimate Beef Wellington with Chef Heidi Wittenborn! Quite a few foodies include Beef Wellington among their cooking ambitions. It's an amazing dish, but fraught with peril- overdone beef, soggy pastry, mushy filling. Success is all about TECHNIQUE. Do each step right and you'll be the hero of your own kitchen, with all your dinner guests singing your praises! For this class, Chef Heidi will be preparing individual Beef Wellingtons topped with a Red Wine Sauce and a few crumbles of Gorgonzola. A great Sauteed Spinach side dish completes this tour-de-force meal to impress your guests. The cost for this demonstration cooking class is $69 per person.

Spring into Spring Rolls with Chef Heidi Wittenborn! Spring Rolls are light, refreshing and so easy to make. You’ll learn how to handle rice paper wrappers and prep the ingredients. With Chef Heidi's master spring roll recipe as a starting point, you can build your favorite spring roll combination. Chef Heidi will also teach you how to make some delicious dipping sauces: spicy peanut, Vietnamese, garlicky soy and tangy orange ponzu. The cost for this demonstration cooking class is $59 per person.

Texas Beef Council Steak Workshop- Learn the Secrets of Steak! Join Chef Robert C. Hale CC, Corporate Chef of the Texas Beef Council as he takes you through the Texas Cattle industry, one steak bite at a time. Chef Hale will show you how to cook the perfect restaurant steak, including sauce making, all utilizing chef-driven techniques to enhance your steak game at home! This will be a sampling event so please bring your Beefy appetite! The cost for this one-hour demonstration workshop is $15 per person.

A Cookbook Comes to Life, with Chef Demeatrie Funderburk! We're excited to welcome back Chef Demeatrie, as she presents a class based around her new Cookbook. The dishes you'll enjoy all come from the places that built her culinary foundations- basically, her history in food. The menu for this class includes Crawfish and Sweet Corn Bisque, showcasing her Louisiana heritage, Rouladen with Bratkartofflen (German Cottage Potatoes) and Caraway Cabbage, from her time in Germany, and for dessert, Rijstevlaai, or Belgian Rice Pie, representing her family ties to Belgium. These dishes have all been featured in the classes Chef Demeatrie did at Faradays over the last several years, and are representative of the many flavors and regions you'll find in this book, which will be available for purchase directly from the Chef/Author. The cost for this class is $59 per person.

Fill 'er Up! Stuffed Doughs from All Over with Chef Heidi Wittenborn. Every cuisine has some version of a dough filled with a savory filling, then steamed, baked, fried, or boiled. Let’s explore some great versions: Pierogi Ruskie, Crab Rangoon, and Mushroom and Cheese Empanadas. Pastry, filling – how hard could it be? Join Chef Heidi to find out just how easy and delicious! Sunday, April 21st, 1-4 pm.
Hands-On Pizza Making Class with Chef Daniele Panella! In this class, you'll learn to make the perfect Italian pizza crust for both thick and thin styles. We will then make a Margherita Pizza with Basil, Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella; a Tex-Italian Pizza with Sausage, Jalapenos, Red Pepper, Onion and Oaxaca Cheese; and a tasty Nutella dessert pizza. You'll enjoy a family-style meal, and get all the recipes to take home with you. You'll be as stuffed as a calzone when this class is over! The cost for this partially hands-on class is $79 per person.

Sunday, April 28th, 1-4 pm.
Join Chef Daniele Panella for a HANDS-ON Pasta Making class! You'll work in the kitchen with the chef to make two kinds of pasta with sauces. Menu for this class includes: Gnocchi alla Sorrentina; Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli with Butter and Sage Sauce, and for dessert, the chef will prepare Millefoglie with Strawberries, Chantilly and Balsamic Glaze. When the cooking is done, you'll enjoy a family-style meal, and get all the recipes to take home with you. The cost for this hands-on class is $79 per person.

Faraday’s Class Cancellation Policy

We understand that life happens, and emergencies do occur.  However, we also hope you understand our commitment to all of our students and the preparation that goes into creating a successful class.  For this reason, we ask that if you are unable to attend a class, you must notify us at least 72 hours in advance of the scheduled class time to receive a refund or credit towards another class.  If it is less than 72 hours before a class, all cancellations are non-refundable (even if someone else gave this class to you as a gift).  If you cannot attend a scheduled class, we encourage you to send someone in your place.  In this case, please call ahead and notify us of the participant change. Reservations for groups of 5 or more require 7-day notice of cancellation for a refund.

Faraday’s Kitchen Store reserves the right to cancel classes. In that event, we will notify you and provide a full refund or credit. All classes are held in our store at 12918 Shops Parkway, Suite 540, Bee Cave, TX 78738.
