Faraday’s Kitchen Store Cooking School hosts both demonstration-style and hands-on Cooking Classes throughout the year supporting the Bee Cave, Lake Travis and Austin areas of Texas. Working in a modern, professional kitchen, you’ll be inspired by our talented, creative chefs who will demonstrate techniques and give you the skills needed to prepare simple, delicious meals at home. A light meal is provided with each class.
Classes range from 12 to 14 students per class, and each space is sold in advance on a first come, first serve basis. If classes are full, we will be happy to add you to our waiting list. Most Classes are two hours in length, unless otherwise detailed within the class description.

If you have any dietary restrictions, please call us and ask if they can be accommodated BEFORE registering for class. We cannot guarantee that chefs will be able to make last minute changes or cook separate portions for special needs.

Hands-On Sushi Making Class with Chef Daniel Castro. Learn the secrets to making beautiful sushi rolls! This hands-on class with Chef Dan Castro will cover a brief history of sushi in Japan; how to make your sushi rice; the equipment you'll need; how to cut your fish and basic knife cuts; and you'll make three different kinds of rolls: Negihama, with Hamachi, Scallions and Ponzu; California Roll with Crab, Avocado and Cucumber; and a Handroll with Spicy Scallops and fish.The cost for this demonstration class is $69 per person.

Join Chef Daniele Panella for a HANDS-ON Pasta Making class! You'll work in the kitchen with the chef to make two kinds of pasta with sauces. Menu for this class includes: Bowties with Trapanese Pesto; and Butternut Squash Gnocchi with Gorgonzola Fondue, Mushrooms and Bacon. The chef will also prepare a delicious homemade Strawberry and Mint Parfait for dessert. When the cooking is done, you'll enjoy a family-style meal, and get all the recipes to take home with you. The cost for this hands-on class is $69 per person.

Creole Cooking- Let's Talk Gumbo! with Chef Demeatrie Funderburk. Who doesn't love a good hearty Gumbo? Chef Demeatrie will teach you to make this Louisiana specialty, with a couple of side dishes that will really float your boat. Menu includes: Chicken and Sausage Gumbo with Tasso (Chef Demeatrie will explain the process of making Tasso at home); Potato Salad; and Cast Iron Skillet Cornbread. The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

Hands-On Pizza Making Class with Chef Daniele Panella! In this class, you'll learn to make the perfect Italian pizza crust for both thick and thin styles. We will then make a Margherita Pizza with Basil, Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella; a Tex-Italian Pizza with Sausage, Jalapenos, Red Pepper, Onion and Oaxaca Cheese; and a tasty Nutella dessert pizza. You'll enjoy a family-style meal, and get all the recipes to take home with you. You'll definitely be as stuffed as a calzone when this class is over! The cost for this partially hands-on class is $69 per person.

Join Chef Demeatrie for a Hearty and Delicious Vegetarian Dinner! With the Summer approaching, gardens are starting to produce their bounty of fresh produce. This menu will make the most of it. Even the carnivores in your family will be satisfied by this meal! Menu includes: Mini Baked Potatoes with Smoked Vegan Cheese; Sous Vide Beets with Greek Yogurt, Dill, Roasted Chinese Broccoli and Poached Eggs; and for dessert, Chocolate Avocado Pie. Canning Basics – How to Water Bath Can! Canning seems intimidating; but with some basic information and a clear understanding of how to do things correctly, you can make jams, jellies, pickles, chutneys, salsas and many other good things to fill your pantry and share with your friends. We’ll cover the basics, show you how to pickle vegetables, and let you sample some of Chef Heidi’s canned goodies. The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

A Hawaiian Delight with Chef Demeatrie Funderburk! Follow your taste buds to the culturally diverse and mouthwatering cuisine of Hawaii! Chef Demeatrie, who attended Culinary School in Hawaii, brings us this tropical-infused menu of Hawaiian favorites. Your menu includes: Grilled Pineapple Skewers with Prosciutto and Chile Lime Glaze; Fire Roasted Chicken with Pomegranate Mustard and Spam Fried Rice; and for dessert, Taro Cake with Haupia Chantilly Cream. A Sampler of Belgian Specialties with Chef Demeatrie Funderburk! Belgian cuisine draws its influences from French, German, and Dutch kitchens and is acknowledged as being among the best in Europe. In fact, it is sometimes said that Belgian food is served in the quantity of German cuisine but with the quality of French food. Let's see if that's true, in this class with Chef Demeatrie! The menu for this class includes: Belgian Endive Salad; Moules Frites (Mussels with Fried Potatoes- the National Dish of Belgium!) and for dessert, authentic Belgian Waffles with Fresh Summer Fruit. The cost for this demonstration class is $59 per person.

Mastering Shellfish: 3 Week Hands-On Series with Chef Heidi Wittenborn. Do you love shrimp, crab, oysters? Wish you knew more so you could prepare great seafood dishes at home? In this 3-week Hands-On Cooking Class Series, Chef Heidi will teach you the ins and outs of cooking things with shells - oysters, shrimp, scallops, crab and squid (No shell - but hey, nobody's perfect.). From oysters on the half shell to pan-seared scallops, to shrimp bisque, crab cakes and stuffed calamari, you'll get the chance to learn how to select seafood, shuck an oyster, pan sear the perfect scallop, and prepare great dishes in this hands-on class. Also covered will be several different sauces and toppings for shellfish. Class runs from 11 am to 1:30 pm on June 18th, 25th, and July 9. (Please note we are skipping the July 4th weekend.) The cost for this 3-week Hands-On series is $199 per person.

It's a paella party! Learn to make a delicious Paella in this fun Cooking Class with Chef Daniele Panella. Faraday’s Class Cancellation Policy
We understand that life happens and emergencies do occur. However, we also hope you understand our commitment to all of our students and the preparation that goes into creating a successful class. For this reason, we ask that if you are unable to attend a class, you must notify us 72 hours in advance of the scheduled class time to receive a refund or credit towards another class. Within 72 hours of a class, all cancellations are non-refundable (even if someone else gave this class to you as a gift). If you cannot attend a scheduled class, we encourage you to send someone in your place. In this case, please call ahead and notify us of the participant change. Reservations for groups of 5 or more require 7-day notice of cancellation for a refund.
